Former NSW Blues<\/a> coach Laurie Daley<\/a> hasn't ruled out returning to the role after Brad Fittler<\/a>'s resignation last week.<\/p>\n

Fittler took over from Daley after the 2017 series, with the latter ending the Maroons' dynasty in 2014.<\/p>\n

Now with the job vacant, Daley confirmed he's interested in helping the Blues out in an way he can. \ufeff<\/p>\n

"Coach could be an option," he said on SKY's The Big Sports Breakfast<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\"Laurie<\/p>\n

"Being a mentor, being in a leadership role, whatever it may be, I'm always happy to help where I can."<\/p>\n

The news comes after revelations Fittler was prepared to bring Daley back into the fold as a possible assistant coach.<\/p>\n

However, NSWRL's five-month offer to Fittler meant he knocked them back<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Blues captain James Tedesco \ufeffput his support behind Daley, with the former coach giving the fullback his Origin debut in 2016.<\/p>\n

"He's very knowledgeable \ufeffand still got a great input and knowledge of the game … well respected around the game," he told 9News Sydney.<\/p>\n

"I'm sure if he put his hand up he'd definitely have everyone's support."<\/p>\n

Tedesco also revealed his preference for the next coach to not have a club role. \ufeff<\/p>\n

"It probably does work better with someone who doesn't have some of the club coaching because they put all their energy and focus into Origin," he said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
