Ex-Socceroo<\/a> Tom Rogic<\/a> has made the difficult decision to retire from professional football, revealing he and his wife are expecting twins after a long battle with fertility issues.<\/p>\n

Rogic made \ufeff53 appearances for the Socceroos between 2012 and 2022, scoring 10 goals.<\/p>\n

Following a nine-year stint with Scotish giants Celtic, Rogic's final club season was with English club West Bromwich Albion before announcing his retirement on Tuesday. \ufeff<\/p>\n

Posting on social media, Rogic explained his family had been through a long IVF journey with the 30-year-old now fully focused on fatherhood.<\/p>\n

"Throughout the past seven years, my wife and I have been on an immensely challenging journey with fertility issues," he posted on Instagram.<\/p>\n

"After years of trying and failed rounds of IVF, my wife and I were fortunate enough to welcome the birth of our daughter in 2021.<\/p>\n

"I have loved every minute of being a dad and consider it my greatest achievement in life.<\/p>\n

"After experiencing more struggles and heartache with fertility treatment, we have recently received the amazing news that our family is growing and we will be expecting twins in 2024.<\/p>\n

"Given our past and how hard we have fought for this, along with the challenges that will come with having twins and a two-year-old, now seems like the right time to give my focus and attention to what is the most important thing in my life – my family."<\/p>\n

Rogic further revealed his family has now returned to Australia after a long stint overseas, having last played in the A-Leagues with Melbourne Victory on loan in 2014. \ufeff<\/p>\n

The multiple Scottish Premiership winner also went on to thank his managers at Celtic, including Ange Postecoglou<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Fellow former and current Socceroos Mitch Langerak, Aaron Mooy<\/a> and Mitchell Duke \ufeffwere among many players to congratulate him on his career.<\/p>\n
