On Thursday, Kiss frontman Paul Stanley put his money where his mouth is when talking up their AFL grand final<\/a> performance.<\/p>\n

"We plan on blowing things up … and we promise you there's no meatloaf on the menu," he joked.<\/p>\n

It was a thinly-veiled swipe at the late singer's disastrous performance at the same event in 2011.<\/p>\n

But the band well and truly delivered on that promise.<\/p>\n

Stanley, bassist Gene Simmons, lead guitarist Tommy Thayer and drummer Eric Singer served up a three delicious courses of classic 1980s rock and roll ahead of the big dance between the Lions<\/a> and the Magpies<\/a> at the MCG.<\/p>\n

They opened the set with I Was Made For Lovin' You, and then went straight Into Shout it Out Loud.<\/p>\n

As they do with every single Kiss show, they finished the three-song set with the anthemic Rock and Roll all Nite, which was even accompanied by a massive swarm of kids in full Kiss regalia dancing in front of the stage.<\/p>\n

A lucky few even got the chance to play air guitar on the stage alongside Thayer.<\/p>\n

At the end of the show, Stanley also smashed his Ibanez guitar on the stage, but it wasn't shown on the Seven broadcast.<\/p>\n

Some online suggested Stanley's vocals weren't live, while it seemed the band at least were.<\/p>\n

On a hot day in Melbourne \u2013 the mercury had already reached the forecast maximum of 29 degrees by the time Kiss took to the stage in their full leather costumes \u2013 the AFL pulled out all the stops to bring the bombastic Kiss show experience to the MCG.<\/p>\n

Outside the Olympics and Commonwealth Games, Kiss' pre-match show was the biggest staging and production event in Australian sports history.<\/p>\n

Earlier, Stanley described Aussie rules as a "brutal" game.<\/p>\n

"Compared\ufeff to what we're used to, this is the ultimate," he said on Seven's broadcast.<\/p>\n

"This is the last of the warriors. It's very exciting for us. We put on our best gear."\ufeff<\/p>\n
