S\ufeffAINT-ETIENNE:<\/strong> Wallabies coach Eddie Jones says he is prepared to be "the fall guy" for Australia's dismal Rugby World Cup campaign.<\/a><\/p>\n

Jones fronted reporters in Saint-Etienne on Friday ahead of Australia's final pool game against Portugal on Monday (AEST).<\/p>\n

After back-to-back losses in France, the Wallabies need Georgia to upset Fiji on Sunday (AEST) or at least deny Fiji a winning bonus point to keep their faint quarter-final hopes alive.<\/p>\n

\ufeffThe Wallabies have never failed to qualify for the quarter-finals in nine previous tournaments.<\/p>\n

"If people have a problem with results, they come to me," Jones said.<\/p>\n

"At the end of the tournament I will stand by that. If there needs to be a fall guy for the World Cup then it's obviously me. When you become a head coach of a team, you take on that responsibility."<\/p>\n

Jones is contracted to Rugby Australia until 2027 but reportedly \ufeffinterviewed for the Japan job before the World Cup.<\/p>\n

RA chief executive Phil Waugh attended training on Thursday and before that told Wide World of Sports that he expected Jones to see out his contract.<\/a><\/p>\n

"Yeah. Right here, right now, absolutely," Waugh said.<\/p>\n
