SAINT-ETIENNE:<\/strong> The Wallabies<\/a> know exactly what's coming their way in Monday's (AEST) crunch Rugby World Cup<\/a> clash with Wales in Lyon.<\/p>\n

The difficult bit will be actually dealing with it as Eddie Jones and Warren Gatland renew their coaching rivalry in a match with enormous ramifications for Australia in particular.<\/p>\n

Wales lead Pool C on 10 points, ahead of Fiji and Australia (both six) following Fiji's historic upset 22-15 win in Saint-Etie\ufeffnne.<\/a><\/p>\n

That Test in November would turn out to be the last \ufeffin charge for both Dave Rennie and Wayne Pivac, as old sparring partners Jones and Gatland returned to take the reins in World Cup year.<\/p>\n

"If you're the Wallabies, have a look at how the British Lions played under Gatland (in 2013, 2017 and 2021)," former Wallaby Morgan Turinui said on Stan Sport's Rugby Heaven<\/em>.<\/p>\n

"Have a look at the history of what Gatland does in big matches. It's about pressure, not playing any of the game in your own half and accruing points. The danger for the Wallabies will be like '19, like other times against Warren Gatland-coached sides.<\/p>\n

"You'll look up after 20 minutes, they've kicked four or three penalty goals and a drop goal… the Wallabies should not be surprised if the Welsh are pragmatic and they will come out and try to absolutely belt the Wallabies forward pack.<\/p>\n

"\ufeffThey'll try and destroy any maul opportunities. They'll try and maul against the Wallabies so they can get piggyback penalties.<\/p>\n

"That's the way Wales win. And I actually think Wales have been excellent in this World Cup. They shouldn't have won that game against Fiji and they found a way.<\/p>\n

Wallabies legend Tim Horan said Jones was outcoached by Fiji's Simon Raiwalui \ufeffin Saint-Etienne as Simione Kuruvoli gave an unlikely Biggar impersonation with four penalties in the first half alone.<\/p>\n

Wallabies centre Samu Kerevi – who was controversially pinged for his carry against Wales' Rhys Patchell in 2019 – \ufeffsaid Australia simply had to be smarter after giving away 18 penalties against Fiji.<\/p>\n

England's Wayne Barnes, widely regarded as the world's premier referee, will have the whistle in Lyon.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"For us this week again, it's just our discipline around our side of the field," Kerevi said.<\/p>\n

"We want to play in the right parts of the field so we don't give those opportunities. There's not a lot of opportunities you get in Test footy, to put points on.<\/p>\n

"So we'll be looking at the same to put the scoreboard pressure on. Our discipline is really important."<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the Wallabies are yet to name a replacement for injured outside back Max Jorge\ufeffnsen, who broke his leg in training on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
