Veteran ruckman Todd Goldstein<\/a> will leave North Melbourne<\/a> after a stellar 17-year career at the club.<\/p>\n

After discussions with the Kangaroos, Goldstein conceded that it was "probably time for the club to have a clean break", with youngster Tristan Xerri expected to log more ruck minutes next season.<\/p>\n

"It's been a really tough decision," the 35-year-old ruckman said.<\/p>\n

"I've been talking to my manager and my family about what's going to be best for us going forward \u2026 and I think that's to look for other opportunities elsewhere."<\/p>\n

His career at North Melbourne included winning a Syd Barker best and fairest in 2015, the same year he was named in the All-Australian team.<\/p>\n

Goldstein has also notched up the most hit outs in VFL\/AFL history.<\/p>\n

Kangaroos football boss Todd Viney praised the veteran\ufeff and thanked him for his ongoing service.<\/p>\n

"Goldy has been a loyal and decorated servant of the club so it's naturally sad to see him go," Viney said.<\/p>\n

Viney also admitted it would be "strange" to see the ruckman donning a new club strip in 2024.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"It's a credit to him that he has been able to play over 300 games at the one club and it'll be strange to see him in different colours," Viney said.<\/p>\n

Goldstein's departure comes after long-time Kangaroos teammates Jack Ziebell, Ben Cunnington and Aaron Hall all hung up the boots at the end of the 2023 season.<\/p>\n

The ruckman is now an unrestricted free agent, so he will be able to reach his chosen club without having to be traded.<\/p>\n
