NRL<\/a> legend Phil Gould<\/a> has called out the decision making behind a head high tackle on Harry Grant<\/a> from Friday's elimination final, when the hooker laid down but wasn't given a penalty.<\/p>\n

Referee Ashley Klein has come under fire for a number of decisions in the game<\/a>, namely a knock on from Grant that wasn't called.<\/p>\n

Klein apologised on-field to Roosters captain James Tedesco<\/a> but could still be axed from the preliminary final schedule.<\/p>\n

Gould said he didn't have a problem with the knock on, but went on to berate the refereeing system for inconsistencies over the Walker tackle. \ufeff<\/p>\n

\"Legend\u00a0left\u00a0shocked\u00a0by\u00a0call\"<\/p>\n

"That's an outlier, every now and then they're going to make a blooper like that, they'll miss a tackle count or they'll miss a knock on. I don't worry about those sort of things, that's human nature," he said on Nine's 100% Footy.<\/p>\n

"The one I'm worried about is where he (Grant) got clocked on the chin in front of the posts, one point behind, he gets clocked on the chin, and the system was put under the test, the whole system that all year has been penalising, sin binning, charging and suspending players all year.<\/p>\n

\"Harry<\/p>\n

"In your biggest game, in your biggest moment, one point behind, in front of the posts, they couldn't pull the pin. If you can't give the penalty there under the process that you've used all year then stop giving it week to week to week."<\/p>\n

Fellow legend Paul Gallen went on to reference an alleged hip drop tackle in the game that wasn't penalised too, only adding to the frustration of Gould.<\/p>\n

"There are people that have been penalised, sin binned, charged and suspended that \ufeffare looking at it and saying 'what the hell?'," he said.<\/p>\n

\"Billy<\/p>\n

"I've always said … when you're going to change rules, imagine it's \ufeffthree minutes to go in a grand final and it happens in front of the posts. Do you penalise it then? Whether it's a strip, a high tackle, any sort of tackle. If you can't give the penalty then, then the rule is bad and the rule should not be right throughout the season.<\/p>\n

"What we have is a certain standard right throughout the season that gets thrown away for Origin, that gets thrown away for finals … the system fails."<\/p>\n

Gallen added that Walker committed a similar tackle on Sharks five-eighth Braydon Trindall during the first week of finals with the halfback only put on report. \ufeff<\/p>\n

"The Sharks had one, the same player, Sam Walker on Trindall, hit him straight in the head, now every day of the week, all year, that's a sin bin … a penalty and a sin bin, there was nothing. Semi finals are reffed different than normal rounds," he said.<\/p>\n

The Bulldogs boss said "that's how it should be refereed all year" to which Gallen agreed. \ufeff<\/p>\n

"We get way too pedantic, and way too sensitive \ufeffduring the course of the season," Gould added.<\/p>\n

"We get way too pedantic there, even around the concussions, we get way too pedantic there and come finals time (they go) 'oh well we won't touch that, we'll just let that go'."<\/p>\n

Despite Klein facing significant criticism post-game, Gallen and Gould both applauded the referee for telling Grant to get up after the high tackle.<\/p>\n
