denial as next skipper up revealed<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Brett Robinson claimed the Australian men&#x27;s title in 2:23:05 and Sinead Diver\ufeff took out the national women&#x27;s title in 2:31:27.<\/p>\n<p>\ufeffDe Rozario departed Milsons Point at 7.08am and crossed the finish line at the Opera House at 9.07am, tackling a 42.195-kilometre course that crossed the Sydney Harbour Bridge, meandered through Pyrmont, Darling Harbour, The Rocks and Circular Quay, and featured Centennial Park and the Royal Botanic Gardens.<\/p>\n<p><img data-id=\"a6c59c46-df67-4ac2-93b6-7c6a80eb34a4\" src=\"https:\/\/prod.static9.net.au\/fs\/a6c59c46-df67-4ac2-93b6-7c6a80eb34a4\" alt=\"Madison de Rozario.\" data-width=\"1396\" data-height=\"785\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&quot;It shocks you every time you hear your name when you&#x27;re out there on the road,&quot; de Rozario told Wide World of Sports.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;[It was] unreal, the crowd was insane and racing at home is unlike anything else.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;\ufeffWinning in front of an Australian crowd is always incredible.&quot;<\/p>\n<p>It was crucial to the Sydney Marathon&#x27;s World Marathon Majors pursuit that de Rozario and the other athletes and participants received enormous crowd support.<\/p>\n<p>If Australia&#x27;s premier marathon meets a 104-point criteria this year and next year, it will become the seventh world major in 2025, taking up the prestigious status shared by Boston, Chicago, New York, London, Berlin and Tokyo.<\/p>\n<p>And one of the criteria points pertains to crowd support, with the Sydney Marathon \ufefftasked with drawing 100,000 spectators to the streets this year and next year.<\/p>\n<p><img data-id=\"3def087c-cfdc-4fdc-a062-7fa7b7a8fac1\" src=\"https:\/\/sportinfo.pro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/3def087c-cfdc-4fdc-a062-7fa7b7a8fac1-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"Participants of the Sydney Marathon crossing the Sydney Harbour Bridge.\" data-width=\"6000\" data-height=\"4000\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Massive crowd numbers and the amazing energy whipped up are key to what makes the majors stand out from other marathons.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;\ufeffYou know what&#x27;s funny?&quot; de Rozario added.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;The stakes aren&#x27;t as high as they are in a Paralympic or major marathon, but given it&#x27;s [in front of] a home crowd it kind of feels a little bit similar because you really want to cross that finish line first.&quot;<\/p>\n<p>Diver has contested the London Marathon three times and the New York City Marathon once.<\/p>\n<p>The\ufeff Australian women&#x27;s marathon record-holder made a fascinating observation after her Sydney Marathon debut.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/_zacharygates\/status\/1703188088108007706\" rel=\"nofollow\" class=\"embed-social embed-twitter\" data-show-caption=\"false\" data-conversation=\"none\">https:\/\/twitter.com\/_zacharygates\/status\/1703188088108007706<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&quot;\ufeffI noticed the crowds more today [than in London and New York City]. I don&#x27;t know if that&#x27;s because more of them were saying, &#x27;Go Sinead, go Sinead&#x27; &#8230; [I heard] loads of, &#x27;Go Sineads&#x27;,&quot; she told Wide World of Sports.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;I noticed the DJ at 30 kilometres and all the little things along the course. That was cool.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;A lot of the second half I ran on my own so you can feel very isolated, but then when you have other runners and supporters calling out and giving you a cheer\ufeff it gives you a little boost. It really helps. Otherwise it can be a bit of a lonely trek to the finish line.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;I honestly felt like there was heaps of support all along the run.
