Storm<\/a> skipper Christian Welch<\/a> fronted the media to unpack his side's thrilling elimination final win over the Roosters<\/a>.<\/p>\n

However, his delight soon turned to disappointment after being informed that his beloved AFL team, the Melbourne Demons<\/a>, had been knocked out of the finals<\/a> following a game-winning goal by Carlton in the final minute of the match.<\/p>\n

Appearing beside Storm coach Craig Bellamy for the team's \ufeffpost-match press conference, Welch could not hide his disappointment after being told the result.<\/p>\n

News Corp reporter Martin Gabor first suggested on X, formerly Twitter, that Welch found out about the Demons' loss during the press conference.<\/p>\n

The front-rower\ufeff later confirmed the suggestion, writing that when he left the sheds for the press conference with only minutes remaining, his Demons were ahead.<\/p>\n

"Left for the press conference [with] 2 mins to go and my mighty Demons were up," he wrote.\ufeff<\/p>\n

After the footage gained traction online and garnered a hilarious response from fans, Welch was asked what exactly was relayed from the wings during the press conference.<\/p>\n

"I got the bad news mid-conference. It's so disappointing, the mighty Demons are such a good team and I just feel like this year and last year we've just squandered what is such a bloody good team and we don't have too much to show for it."<\/p>\n
