Warriors<\/a> halfback Shaun Johnson<\/a> looks certain to take the field in Saturday's semi-final despite carrying a calf injury.<\/p>\n

\ufeffThe 33-year-old was a late scratching from last week's final against Penrith, and the Panthers made the most of his absence to score a thumping 32-6 win<\/a>.<\/p>\n

That Warriors loss meant they host Newcastle<\/a> at Mt Smart Stadium in a week two do-or-die semi-final.<\/p>\n

But in a boost for the home side, Johnson made it through Friday's captain's run and will more than likely run out with the team for the do-or-die clash on Saturday.<\/p>\n

The veteran playmaker had been seen with heavy strapping on his calf earlier in the week, and sat out of training on Thursday.<\/p>\n

"If he ticks the boxes tomorrow then he's good to go," Warriors coach Andrew Webster said on Thursday.<\/p>\n

"That's why we've gone this far and that's why we're confident he will play.<\/p>\n

"The best preparation for him was not to train today and keep the two days in a row loading out of it, to get him ready for (Friday) and to play.<\/p>\n

"He's on the better side of playing… we are confident he will play."<\/p>\n

Webster wouldn't confirm what his contingency plan is if Johnson fails to get up, although Dylan Walker appears to be on standby to come into the halves alongside Te Maire Martin.<\/p>\n

\ufeffBut even if Johnson plays on one leg it will provide the Warriors with added class in the attack department, which may be needed against a Knights side that has built a 10-game winning streak on the back of stonewall defence.<\/p>\n

Newcastle, though, has its own injury concerns, with halfback Jackson Hastings already ruled out of Saturday's game<\/a> with an ankle injury.<\/p>\n

Hastings is replaced by Adam Clune at No.7.<\/p>\n
