The Wallabies are rallying around luckless prop Taniela Tupou to provide "good energy" and ensure his latest injury setback<\/a> doesn't derail their Rugby World Cup<\/a> campaign.<\/p>\n

\ufeffTupou is arguably the most important player to Australia's chances of making a deep World Cup run and had been returning to top form after countless hours of painstaking rehab from a ruptured Achilles.<\/p>\n

But the 27-year-old's participation for the rest of the tournament is murky after a Wallabies official provided an ominous update on Thursday.<\/p>\n

\ufeffTupou went for scans on Wednesday night, French time, with results confirming a "minor" hamstring injury.<\/p>\n

The spokesman said Tupou would return to full training "ASAP" with no timeframe available.<\/p>\n

With Tupou firing, the Wallabies would have targeted Fiji's scrum in Monday's (AEST) crucial pool clash in which a win would all but book a quarter-final berth.\ufeff<\/p>\n

That weapon has now been greatly depowered, although maul coach Pierre-Henry Broncan had a more positive report on fellow props James Slipper and Pone Fa'amausili, who he said trained fully on Thursday and were available for selection.<\/p>\n

The Wallabies team will be named around 5.30pm AEST on \ufeffFriday.<\/p>\n

"It's definitely next man up for us, there's 33 in this team and we know it's out of our control when things like that happen," Wallabies backrower Rob Leota said of the Tupou news.<\/p>\n

"So for us, our prep can't change. We've got to keep prepping like we've been doing the whole week against Fiji and we just back the next guy that comes up. And if they take Nella's spot, we just give them the same confidence that we give Taniela."<\/p>\n

Leota is well placed to empathise with Tupou, having spent time together recovering from his own Achilles rupture.<\/p>\n

Injuries are part of rugby but it doesn't make it any easier – especially when they hit in devastating fashion at a World Cup.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"Taniela, he's in good spirits I think. I've been with him where it's been really tough. So for him, he's used to it, he's been there.<\/p>\n

"So for us, it's just to give him that support. We've just got to keep giving him good energy."<\/p>\n

That good energy is certainly being provided by Slipper, who lost the Wallabies co-captaincy this year but continues to \ufefffront as a respected role model.<\/p>\n

Before the Georgia game, Leota said Slipper had taken time out t\ufeffo speak directly to young players about the unique pressures of representing your country at one of the world's biggest sporting events.<\/p>\n
