SAINT-ETIENNE:<\/strong> The Wallabies' preparations for Monday's (AEST) crucial Rugby World Cup<\/a> clash against Fiji have hit a speed bump, with senior props Taniela Tupou and James Slipper in doubt through injury.<\/p>\n

Tupou and Slipper did not participate in Australia's team training \ufeffrun in Saint-Etienne on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

Tupou \ufeffwas sidelined with a hamstring issue while Slipper, who missed the World Cup opener with a foot injury, worked up a sweat with the boxing gloves in the segment of training open to media.<\/p>\n

"Taniela is on the sideline at the moment," Wallabies attack coach Jason Ryles said after the session.<\/p>\n

"He has got a bit of a hamstring complaint but we're just going to monitor him and just see how he goes over the next couple of days.<\/p>\n

"Didn't train today, no. That's not unusual for Taniela, don't worry."<\/p>\n

Wallabies coach Eddie Jones will name his team on Friday and Tupou's absence would be a major blow after he led a strong scrummaging performance in the 35-15 win over Georgia.<\/p>\n

He also delivered the "offload of the tournament" for Ben Donaldson's first Test try.\ufeff<\/p>\n

Ryles was non-committal about Slipper's status.<\/p>\n

"Slips has been managed at this stage," the former NRL star said.<\/p>\n

"I think he's certainly in the picture but we're not exactly sure how that's going to pan out, whether it's this week or next week.<\/p>\n

"Himself and Pone (Fa'amausili) have been doing a lot of stuff off field and then dropping into training at different stages with what their injuries allow them to and what the medical team allow them to.<\/p>\n

"I'm not sure if it will be this week but they'll be close.\u00a0It's very cliched but all we've got on our minds is this week and the next couple of days and how we can prepare for that."<\/p>\n

The win over Georgia was Australia's first in 2023.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"Without looking too far, we want to get our next couple of days right and play the best we can. We believe if we play near our best, then we're going to be hard to beat," Ryles said.<\/p>\n

"It doesn't mean we're going to win every game but we're starting to believe and have confidence within the group. Whilst we haven't had a lot of wins on the board, we're certainly tracking in the right direction in the things we see as important.
