F\ufefformer NBA<\/a> player Brandon Hunter has died at the age of 42 after reportedly collapsing at a yoga class.<\/p>\n

Multiple outlets report Hunter was in the middle of a hot yoga session when he collapsed, and could not be revived.<\/p>\n

"It was hot yoga, and he did it regularly," Hunter's mother-in-law Carolyn Cliett told NBC News.<\/p>\n

"He was in good shape as far as we know. We're just shocked."<\/p>\n

Hunter played for the Boston Celtics and Orlando Magic in the NBA, but also had a long professional career in Europe.<\/p>\n

He was taken in the second round of the 2003 NBA draft by the Boston Celtics, where he averaged 3.5 points and 3.3 rebounds in 36 games.<\/p>\n

He was later traded to the Magic.<\/p>\n

"We are terribly saddened to learn of the loss of our former teammate, Brandon Hunter. We send our deepest condolences to the entire Hunter family," the Magic said in a statement.<\/p>\n

Even though his NBA career was limited to just 36 games, Hunter turned his overall basketball experience into a successful career as an agent.<\/p>\n

"For me it was incredibly rewarding to see how he matured as a person," his former college coach John O'Shea said.<\/p>\n

"He invested money wisely, he had real estate and some rental properties. He came from a very tough childhood so it was amazing to see how athletics can be a vehicle to change somebody's life and he was a great example of that."<\/p>\n

Hunter is survived by his wife Mary and three children.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
