T\ufeffhe A-Leagues<\/a> deal that caused one of the most chaotic scenes in Australian football history could be scrapped after just one year.<\/p>\n

According to the Sydney Morning Herald<\/a>, the NSW government and the Australian Professional Leagues (APL) are considering scrapping the three-year, $12 million deal that guaranteed Sydney would host both the men's and women's grand finals through 2025. A final decision on the matter has not yet been reached, according to the report.<\/p>\n

While Sydney may lose grand final hosting rights, there is potential for the deal to be re-worked to give NSW and full weekend of fixtures, similar to the NRL's Magic Round in Brisbane every year.<\/p>\n

Fan unrest reached its crescendo during Melbourne Victory<\/a>'s derby against Melbourne City<\/a> just days after the grand final deal was announced, when fans stormed the AAMI Park pitch in protest.<\/p>\n

\ufeffCity goalkeeper Tom Glover was assaulted by spectators<\/a> and rushed to hospital with a concussion and "severe lacerations" after a bucket of sand was thrown at him. The man who threw the bucket was jailed for three months over the incident.<\/p>\n
