A\ufeffustralian all-rounder Sean Abbott<\/a> added yet another spectacular catch to his fielding highlights on Tuesday night (AEST), running and diving to reel in the ball one-handed in the third one-dayer against South Africa.<\/p>\n

The Proteas smashed the Australians by 111 runs in Potchefstroom<\/a> to keep the five-match ODI series alive, but\ufeff Abbott left his mark on the game when he took a superb catch to end the innings of Marco Jansen.<\/p>\n

Facing right-arm\ufeff quick Nathan Ellis with the Proteas 5-307 in the 47th over, Jansen lofted the ball over cover.<\/p>\n

The ball appeared certain to reach the boundary, but at full fight, Abbott tore along the boundary, dived, threw out his left arm and clung onto the ball.<\/p>\n

Stunned, Jansen put a hand to his helmet, before beginning the long walk back to the pavilion.<\/p>\n

He had just whacked 32 runs from 16 balls, playing a handy lower-order role in the hosts' eventual total of 338.<\/p>\n

Mitchell Marsh, who's filling in as Australia's ODI captain as Pat Cummins recovers from\ufeff a fractured wrist<\/a>, had high praise for Abbott's catch after the game.<\/p>\n

"It's probably one of the best catches I've ever seen live, that's for sure," Marsh told reporters.<\/p>\n

"Sean's an outstanding fielder and he's taken many catches like that over his career.<\/p>\n

"It was a fantastic effort.\ufeff"<\/p>\n

ESPNcricinfo's Andrew McGlashan described Abbott's effort as "one of the most remarkable catches you will see".\ufeff<\/p>\n

Abbott has taken a host of breath-taking catches, including\ufeff a diving catch at cover to remove master blaster Chris Lynn in the 2021-22 Big Bash League season<\/a>.<\/p>\n
