The NRL is investigating a Valentine Holmes Instagram post that appears to show the Cowboys star with a small white bag in his mouth.<\/p>\n

In the post, which has now unsurprisingly been deleted, the Cowboys gun can be seen posing for a selfie with a drink in one hand and a small white bag in his mouth. The contents of the bag are unknown at this stage.<\/p>\n

The Cowboys released a statement on the matter on Sunday morning, indicating that both the club and \ufeffthe NRL are "aware" of Holmes' social media post.<\/p>\n

"The North Queensland Cowboys are aware of a photo posted to social media by a Cowboys player this morning," the club said in a statement on Sunday morning.<\/p>\n

"The club is conducting an investigation as well as assisting the NRL Integrity Unit.<\/p>\n

"The Cowboys will make no further comment until the investigations are completed."<\/p>\n

Holmes' Cowboys squad missed the top eight by a game, after winning just one of their final four matches while their gun winger was suspended.<\/p>\n

The 28-year-old has made 179 NRL appearances so far in his career, with 74 of those coming in Cowboys colours.\ufeff<\/p>\n
