The tale of woe appeared to be extending into the tournament when star flanker Tom Curry was sent off early in Sunday's (AEST) clash with Argentina in Marseille.\ufeff<\/a><\/p>\n

"Pretty much everything that could have gone wrong, did," Argentina coach Michael Cheika said.<\/p>\n

"We let the play get a bit too stop start, which is obviously what England wanted. So they played the circumstances very well.<\/p>\n

"England, full credit to them. There was so many stoppages, there was not a lot of play and then the play we did get, we didn't master very well. That was by design, I'd say by the other team.<\/p>\n

Ford kicked his drop goals in the space of eight minutes near the end of the half, taking England from 3-3 to 12-3 ahead in the blink of an eye.<\/p>\n

England even bossed the set piece despite being a man down, as Argentina's errors and penalty count gave it no chance to fight back in a game many thought the Pumas were favourites to win.<\/p>\n

Argentina replacement Rodrigo Bruni scored the only try of the game in the last minute when it was already over.<\/p>\n

Curry became the first player to receive a red card at the World Cup via the new bunker review system after his head smashed into Juan Cruz Mallia's as the Argentina fullback came down to ground after catching a high kick.<\/p>\n

Curry was initially shown a yellow card by referee Mathieu Raynal but the tackle was put on review.<\/p>\n

The yellow was upgraded to red by TMO Marius Jonker, meaning Curry played no more part and his first game back since May because of injury lasted barely three minutes.<\/p>\n
