Meg Lanning<\/a> remains unavailable for national team duties as Cricket Australia<\/a> announced two 13-player squads for upcoming T20 and ODI series against the West Indies.<\/p>\n

Cricket Australia's medical team has deemed Lanning unfit to return after she was ruled out of Australia's Women's Ashes retention<\/a> citing undisclosed medical reasons<\/a>.<\/p>\n

While it is not known exactly why Lanning \ufeffremains unavailable for selection, Cricket Australia's medical staff previously advised Lanning to tend to a medical issue that required management from home.<\/p>\n

Alyssa Healy will continue to lead the side in Lanning's absence alongside Tahlia McGrath, as was the case during the successful Ashes series<\/a>.<\/p>\n

"Alyssa embraced the added challenge of captaincy during the Ashes and will again lead the team in Meg's absence. We're fortunate to have plenty of international experience and strong leaders within the squad and know she will be well supported," Cricket Australia's head of women's performance Shawn Flegler said in a statement.<\/p>\n

"Although currently unavailable for selection, Meg remains an integral part of our team and we'll continue to support her throughout her return to play program."<\/p>\n

In 2022, Lanning took an extended break from the game for personal reasons.<\/p>\n

\ufeffWith the two formats being played back-to-back, one change will be made between the series with all-rounder Alana King coming in for Grace Harris following the T20Is.<\/p>\n

Healy and Ellyse Perry previously sat out Australia's 10-wicket win over Ireland in their third ODI in July with a finger and knee injury respectively, but are set to return for the West Indies series.<\/p>\n

The series, which will be played across Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne, kicks off with the first T20I at North Sydney Oval on Sunday, October 1.<\/p>\n
