Australian tennis<\/a> great Todd Woodbridge<\/a> called out Daniil Medvedev<\/a> for "gamesmanship" and implored the game\ufeff to crack down on time wasting.<\/p>\n

The Russian No.3 seed had lost the first set of his fourth-round US Open<\/a> match to Alex de Minaur<\/a> when he left the court for a lengthy period of time. He had earlier taken a break between games and had medical attention.<\/p>\n

\ufeffAussie de Minaur was left waiting for his opponent and Woodbridge was fuming from the commentary box.<\/p>\n

"\ufeffThis is a strange situation in the match," Woodbridge said on Nine.<\/p>\n

"A 31-minute set, \ufeffMedvedev leaves the court, took his whole bag… why do you need to leave the court for that long?<\/p>\n

\"Alex<\/p>\n

"It's not a toilet break, \ufeffis he changing full kit? Shouldn't that be at a certain time?<\/p>\n

"I tell you, I think our sport really has to do something \ufeffabout these changeovers. It's just such a crutch that everyone seems to go to when they're down, and it's just not part of the game.<\/p>\n

"It shouldn't be there\ufeff, I implore our rules officials to get in and stop all this stuff going on, because it's just momentum changes in matches that we shouldn't have.<\/p>\n

"Let's keep the game moving. It's not great for us \ufeffas broadcasters, and I think it's really gamesmanship and it needs to be taken out."<\/p>\n

Medvedev then took another lengthy break after winning the first game of the second set, although didn't leave the court.<\/p>\n

"They are letting him get away with it," Woodbridge said.\ufeff<\/p>\n

Woodbridge wasn't playing favourites with the Aussie, however, as he then proceeded to highlight de Minaur's absence during a long break after the second set.<\/p>\n
