Michael Hooper<\/a> mightn't be part of the Wallabies<\/a> camp at the 2023 Rugby World Cup<\/a>, but the Test match legend is still set to play a big part in this year's tournament.<\/p>\n

Stan Sport has confirmed the former Australian captain will be part of this year's all-star commentary team.<\/p>\n

It comes after Hooper was omitted by Wallabies head coach Eddie Jones<\/a> from this year's squad, all but ending his international Test career.<\/a><\/p>\n

Hooper, a Test match veteran of 125 caps, will join the in-studio team featuring presenter Nick McArdle, former Wallabies Mat Rogers, Stephen Hoiles, James Horwill, cross-code international Allana Ferguson, and Wallaroos star Sera Naiqama.\u00a0<\/p>\n

On the ground, the Stan Sport team will be led by Wallabies legends Tim Horan, Morgan Turinui, and Justin Harrison alongside All Blacks<\/a> legends Sonny Bill Williams and Andrew Mehrtens. Sean Maloney will also be in commentary with Michael Atkinson sideline.<\/p>\n

"With the game's most recognisable face Michael Hooper completing an outstanding lineup, Stan Sport has built a commentary team that will do justice to one of the world's biggest sporting events," said Ben Kimber, Stan director of sport.<\/p>\n

All 48 matches of the 2023 Rugby World Cup will be broadcast live and ad-free on Stan Sport in 4K UHD.<\/p>\n

Match coverage will be flanked by two Stan Sport shows. Rugby World Cup Central<\/em> will air on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 5pm AEST every week, reviewing the major talking points, results, standings, highlights, and heroes.<\/p>\n

Roz Kelly and Nick McArdle will front the magazine show with expert analysis from Hoiles, Horwill, and Rogers.<\/p>\n

The Rugby World Cup gets underway on Saturday with hosts France taking on New Zealand. Coverage begins at 3:55am AEST, live and exclusively on Stan Sport.<\/p>\n
