T\ufeffhe Panthers<\/a> are this season's minor premiers after downing the Cowboys<\/a> 44-12 at BlueBet Stadium.<\/p>\n

The result secured a third top spot in four seasons for the Panthers, while it also finalised the rest of the top eight with the Cowboys making way for the Roosters.<\/p>\n

Collecting the J.J. Giltinan Shield, co-captain Isaah Yeo<\/a> acknowledged his team's consistency across what could be argued as the most competitive season of the NRL<\/a> era.<\/p>\n

"Obviously, this is something we are very proud of. It means we have been the most consistent team throughout the season, particularly in this season where it's all been so close," he said.<\/p>\n

After some stern words from coach Todd Payten, the Cowboys dominated the opening 10 minutes of the second half.<\/p>\n

A crash play from Griffin Neame got them on the board in the 43rd minute before going back-to-back through a stunning individual effort from Zac Laybutt.<\/p>\n

But the Panthers wrestled back control\ufeff as Turuva and To'o nabbed doubles and Nathan Cleary sewed up the result.<\/p>\n

"We didn't start the year very well but we got into a bit of form and found our rhythm and [were] very happy with it," Cleary told Fox League post-match.<\/p>\n

Capp\ufeffing off the year with a record of 18-6, the Panthers proved to dominate possession and finished the season with 54 per cent possession overall \u2014 three per cent more than any other club.<\/p>\n

The club also finished with an overall completion rate of\ufeff 83 per cent which is two per cent more than anyone else this year and gained 45,000 metres \u2014 10 per cent more.<\/p>\n
