Billy Slater\ufeff<\/a> has flagged the need for "non-negotiables" and club leaders being "the hardest workers" amid claims of preferential treatment rattling the South Sydney Rabbitohs<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Among a raft of controversies engulfing South Sydney is talk of Latrell Mitchell<\/a> and Cody Walker<\/a> wielding too much power at the club, which the latter rubbished as "laughable" and "crap" as he addressed media on Tuesday<\/a>.<\/p>\n

"Everyone is different and everyone reacts differently to whether it be criticism, whether it be praise, so you have to treat people differently, but there are non-negotiables within a team that are the same," Slater said on Wide World of Sports' The Billy Slater Podcast<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n

"You've got to have those non-negotiables and everyone needs to abide by that\ufeff.<\/p>\n

"The team comes first. When you play in a team, the team comes first.<\/p>\n

"All the good leaders that I've been involved with have been the hardest workers. That's what it comes down to. The best leaders are the hardest workers and the most-consistent performers, so if you want to be a leader at the club and you want to have a voice and you want to have dominance at the club, you have to be … the hardest worker in the organisation and you have to be a consistent performer."<\/p>\n

A snippet of Mitchell appearing lazy on the field has done the rounds since South Sydney's loss to Newcastle last week<\/a>.<\/p>\n

It's been a constant criticism throughout his career, which has been patchy but also produced two NRL<\/a> titles as well as Blues and Kangaroos appearances.\ufeff<\/p>\n

He was sin-binned for an ugly move on NSW teammate Tyson Frizell late in the Newcastle clash, before copping a one-match ban that ruled him out of the Rabbitohs' must-win game against the Roosters<\/a> on Friday night.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"Sure, you have to treat people differently because everyone is different, but at the same time, when you're in a team environment and you've got team values, everyone's got to jump on board and be a part of those values."<\/p>\n

The Rabbitohs are placed eighth on the ladder on 30 points \u2014 the same number of points as the ninth-placed Cowboys and 10th-placed Roosters.<\/p>\n
