Australia's Cameron Smith<\/a> has revealed LIV Golf<\/a>'s\ufeff fight for world ranking points has him worried about his bid for Paris 2024<\/a> selection.<\/p>\n

Since the opening of the live World Golf Rankings system window in\ufeff August last year, the Queenslander has won one tournament recognised by the rankings and secured three top 10 finishes.<\/p>\n

He's also chalked up three wins and eight top 10 finishes in LIV Golf since the opening of the World Golf Rankings system window, but those results had no bearing on his ranking.<\/p>\n

\ufeffSmith used to be ranked as high as second but is now the world No.11. If he's sitting outside the top 60 on June 24 next year, which is expected, he won't make the cut for the Olympic Games.<\/p>\n

He contested the 2021 Tokyo Olympics with fellow Australian Mark Leishmann, but his push to become a two-time Olympian in Paris is being cruelled by his allegiance with LIV Golf.<\/p>\n

"I don't think I have looked at the rankings but it's something I am conscious of," Smith said.<\/p>\n

"A lot of the other boys in LIV have slid pretty dramatically (in the rankings).<\/p>\n

"I don't know what it would take for me to make it, but it's definitely something I am thinking about."<\/p>\n

A National Olympic Committee will be able to be represented by as many as four men at Paris 2024 \ufeffif all four of them are ranked in the top 15, but no more than two men if either of them are ranked outside the top 15.<\/p>\n

"We're going to have to wait and see how everything unfolds," Smith said.<\/p>\n

"With the Olympics being next year I don't know how much longer I will be able to hold onto that (Olympic) spot.<\/p>\n

"That's definitely something in my mind and hopefully they can make it a bit easier for me."<\/p>\n

Smith will return to Australia this year<\/a> to compete in the Australian PGA Championship, to be held from November 23-26, as well as the Australian Open, scheduled for November 30-December 3.\ufeff<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
