Raiders<\/a> enforcer Corey Horsburgh has failed in his bid to have a ban for a grade one shoulder charge overturned at the NRL<\/a> judiciary.<\/p>\n

The Match Review Committee originally offered Horsburgh three weeks for a hit on Corey Jensen in the last minute of the Raiders 29-18 loss<\/a> to the Broncos<\/a> in Canberra.<\/p>\n

But the failed appeal means he will now miss four matches, effectively ending his season, unless Ricky Stuart's men make an \ufeffunlikely charge to the grand final.<\/p>\n

The panel \ufefftook only about ten minutes to reach a guilty verdict, having been shown seven angles of the hit.<\/p>\n

"Player Horsburgh is coming in a forward and diagonal angle coming out of the line. There is no attempt here to use the arm in the tackle at all," the NRL's legal counsel Patrick Knowles said.<\/p>\n

"You can see that neither the right arm that makes contact or the left arm is out to wrap or tackle the player.<\/p>\n

"Player Horsburgh launches into contact with the right shoulder or upper arm. It was at the very least careless.<\/p>\n

"This is a clear case of a shoulder charge."<\/p>\n

But in defending Horsburgh, Sydney lawyer Nick Ghabar argued the contact came from the Raiders' lock's chest as opposed to his shoulder.<\/p>\n

"The contact was made by the pec \u2026 even if there was contribution from shoulder, it wasn't the primary cause of collision," he said.<\/p>\n

"He tried to use both his arms. He didn't make high contact, so it wasn't careless."\ufeff<\/p>\n

In the Broncos last set of six for the night, Horsburgh rushed out of the \ufeffRaiders line to put the hit on Jensen.<\/p>\n
