Cody Walker<\/a> has\ufeff rubbished claims of he and Latrell Mitchell<\/a> receiving preferential treatment as "laughable" and "crap", while Damien Cook<\/a> has again revealed he's worried the criticism bearing down on the superstar fullback could force him out of rugby league.<\/p>\n

Walker addressed media for the first time since the Rabbitohs<\/a> were engulfed by a raft of dramas, including Rodney Churchill's\ufeff disparaging leaked text<\/a>, Sam Burgess' departure<\/a> and reports of Walker and Mitchell holding too much power at the club<\/a>.<\/p>\n

"That's laughable that the reports think that. I don't really know how to answer it. It is crap, to put it nicely. I don't want to be a part of the club like that," Walker said of the whispers of he and Mitchell having too strong a presence at South Sydney.<\/p>\n

"I spoke to JD (coach Jason Demetriou<\/a>) and I asked the question whether that was the case. I said if it ever got to that point I would want you to tell me, because I would never want to be at a club like that. Then I spoke to the senior players in Cooky (Damien Cook), Cammo (Cameron Murray<\/a>) and Latrell, as well.<\/p>\n

"I said, 'If you ever feel like that is the case, I would like to know about it', and I would never like to be at a club like that. I don't think anyone would."<\/p>\n

Walker said that when he consulted with Demetriou over the claims of preferential treatment, he was assured that was not the case.<\/p>\n

"JD said, 'No, no, definitely not'," said the NSW Blues five-eighth.<\/p>\n

"As a leader of the footy team, I offer my opinion.<\/p>\n

"At the end of the day, the buck stops with JD. Whatever JD says, goes.<\/p>\n

"Same with the leadership group. Cameron is the captain. We offer our opinion for our thoughts around any situation but, when the decision is made, we all back that decision.<\/p>\n

"I am certainly no different."<\/p>\n

In Churchill's leaked text, the son of Rabbitohs legend and rugby league Immortal Clive Churchill branded Mitchell an "imposter" and a "cancer".<\/p>\n

He also described him as "a complete myth who has the Aboriginal cause paramount and South Sydney second, if at all".\ufeff<\/p>\n

Churchill's explosive text was the latest instance of Mitchell being abused in rugby league circles.<\/p>\n

\ufeffThe Indigenous ace has been a victim of racism on far too many occasions, such as the time he was targeted by a teenager in the tunnel at Penrith's BlueBet Stadium in March<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Cook revealed in the wake of that incident that he was concerned the attacks on \ufeffMitchell could drive him out of the game<\/a>, much like Adam Goodes was bullied out of the AFL<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Cook has again expressed those fears as the Rabbitohs hone in on their first game since plunging into crisis.<\/p>\n

"I would like to hope that it won't happen, but when you go through moments like we have, you wouldn't be surprised if, when he finishes his next contract, he goes, 'Enough is enough, I'm 30 now, that will do me'," Cook said on the cusp of the Rabbitohs' match against the Roosters on Friday night.<\/p>\n

"I hope not, I hope we don't lose a superstar of our game, probably the most talked-about player in our game and the most recognised player in the NRL.<\/p>\n

"I hope we don't lose him any earlier because of issues like this."<\/p>\n

The Rabbitohs are placed eighth on the ladder on 30 points \u2014 the same number of points as the ninth-placed Cowboys and 10th-placed Roosters.<\/p>\n

They must beat the Tricolours at Sydney Olympic Park on Friday night\ufeff to qualify for the finals.<\/p>\n
