Simon Pagenaud's season has been cut short after medical officials ruled him out of the final two IndyCar<\/a> races of 2023.<\/p>\n

The Meyer Shank Racing driver is still suffering from concussion symptoms nearly two months on from a terrifying barrel roll at Mid-Ohio<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Since then, the No.60 car has been shared between Conor Daly, Tom Blomqvist, and Linus Lundqvist.<\/p>\n

Stan Sport is the only place to watch the 2023 IndyCar Series, featuring Will Power, Scott McLaughlin and Scott Dixon.<\/strong><\/em> All the action streaming ad free, live and on demand<\/strong><\/em><\/a><\/p>\n

The final two races of the season will see Blomqvist back behind the wheel of the No.60 before he goes full-time with the team in 2024 in place of Helio Castroneves.<\/p>\n

"I have been working with an excellent team of doctors and I have made progress," Pagenaud said.<\/p>\n

"The doctor's advice is for me to take more time to continue my way back to 100 per cent, so I will not be racing the final two races of the 2023 season.<\/p>\n

"The accident left me with lingering post-concussion symptoms. I am working hard to get back to 100 per cent but this type of recovery is unique in time to each individual.\u00a0<\/p>\n

"I wish I could be out there doing what I love and driving my race car, but the accident was very violent and left me to focus on the task at hand: my health and recovery.<\/p>\n

"I will be watching the end of the IndyCar season and wish good luck to everyone involved in this closing of the championship."<\/p>\n

The final two IndyCar races of the year will take place at Portland and Laguna Seca respectively on back-to-back weekends.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The forthcoming race will be just the second time Blomqvist has raced in the series after receiving a late call-up to compete on the streets of Toronto.<\/p>\n

His debut lasted all of a few hundred metres after he was caught up in a turn-one melee.<\/p>\n

Blomqvist said he's approaching the final two races of the season as a warm-up to 2024.<\/p>\n

"Obviously the circumstances are quite tricky with Simon's recovery and the whole situation surrounding the 60 car \u2013 I know the whole team and myself included are thinking about him as he recovers," said Blomqvist.<\/p>\n

"I've got to thank Jim (Meyer) and Mike (Shank) for getting me in the car and looking ahead now to next season having been confirmed to drive with MSR next year.\u00a0<\/p>\n

"It's a good thing to be getting these races under my belt before the season and working in preparation for my full program in 2024. I got a brief test in Toronto under very challenging circumstances \u2013 without any real preparation whatsoever.<\/p>\n

"Now I've got a little bit more understanding and knowledge and I'm hoping it's going to be easier this time. I'm going to have the opportunity to get into the simulator and I know a little bit more of what to expect in terms of the way the weekend runs.\u00a0<\/p>\n

"I don't know Portland at all and I know everyone has been racing flat-out in the summer. It's still going to be an absolutely huge challenge. The series is so, so competitive and I am still new to these cars.<\/p>\n

"I'm not putting any pressure on myself and I'm just going to go out there and do my best. Hopefully I can do Mike and Jim proud and make progress with every session.\u00a0<\/p>\n

"Hopefully after these next two events I can be happy and put in some strong performances and go into winter break with more knowledge on the series and be able to build on this."<\/p>\n

Blomqvist won't be the only change to the grid at Portland and Laguna Seca.<\/p>\n
