FIFA<\/a> has suspended Spanish football federation president Luis Rubiales from office while its disciplinary committee investigates his conduct at the Women\u2019s World Cup final, which included kissing a player without her consent<\/a>.<\/p>\n

FIFA said Rubiales was removed from football duties for 90 days \u201cpending the disciplinary proceedings opened\u201d against him.<\/p>\n

Rubiales refused to resign from his football presidency at an emergency meeting<\/a> where he had been expected to leave under intense pressure from the Spanish government, women players, football clubs and officials.<\/p>\n

In a statement from FIFA, the chairman of its disciplinary committee, \ufeffJorge Ivan Palacio, said he'd implemented two additional directives where Rubiales is to refrain, through himself or third parties, from contacting or attempting to contact the player in question, Jennifer Hermoso, "or her close environment".<\/p>\n

The other directive is the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) and its officials or employees, directly or through third parties, are subject to the same circumstances.<\/p>\n

"FIFA reiterates its absolute commitment to respect the integrity of all persons and therefore condemns with the utmost vigour any behaviour to the contrary," the statement read.<\/p>\n

Before FIFA's decision, the Spanish football federation announced it would commence legal action against veteran striker Jenni Hermoso for her comments about its president Luis Rubiales.<\/a>\ufeff<\/p>\n
