The Cowboys<\/a> are on the edge of elimination after an awful month and both Andrew Johns<\/a> and Brad Fittler<\/a> are tipping the end to come as soon as this Friday night when they visit the 14th-placed Dolphins<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Since defeating the Eels on July 22, Todd Payten's men have been on an alarming slide, losing to Queensland rivals the Titans and Broncos before being thumped by Cronulla at home. Only a bye in that period has \ufeffstemmed the bleeding.<\/p>\n

Yet still, North Queensland has their fate in their own hands, needing to beat the Dolphins at Suncorp Stadium to set up a final round do-or-die clash away to the Panthers, who are likely to rest many of their regulars, perhaps even including Nathan Cleary<\/a>.<\/p>\n

If the Panthers roll out a B side, the Cowboys would have a huge opportunity to seize seventh or eighth spot at the death.<\/p>\n

But so poorly did they perform against the Sharks last week, even their desperate situation hasn't convinced Johns or Fittler to tip them on Friday, with both expecting a Wayne Bennett-inspired boilover.<\/p>\n

"My specials of the week, Dolphins, with the start," Johns told Fittler on Wide World of Sports' Freddy and the Eighth's Tips<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n

"I'm tipping the Dolphins, I think they'll win."<\/p>\n

"I'm going the Dolphins too," Fittler replied. "They've been unlucky."<\/p>\n

Johns said the Dolphins could attract a crowd as big as 40,000 to Suncorp Stadium for a Friday night game, coming \ufeffon a weekend when the Broncos are out of town.<\/p>\n

"They've been unlucky," added Fittler. "The last two games they've lost two by one point and one by two points, so they're going good."\ufeff<\/p>\n

Fittler and Johns' tip would almost certainly condemn \ufeffthe Cowboys to a dead rubber round 27 match up, with the Rabbitohs to jump ahead of them by two points with a for and against buffer north of 60 points. South Sydney have a bye this round.<\/p>\n
