All Blacks<\/a> boss Ian Foster has flipped the script on the Wallabies coaching coup, joking that Steve Hansen would provide him with a dossier from his time in camp with Australia.<\/p>\n

Foster, Hansen's long time right hand man with New Zealand before replacing him at the helm, also said he might bring the legendary coach into the All Blacks fold for the Rugby World Cup in France.<\/p>\n

Hansen made headlines across the rugby world when it was revealed that he had taken up an invitation from friend Eddie Jones<\/a> to observe and provide feedback on Australia's preparations in an informal role.<\/p>\n

All Blacks hooker Dane Coles was "gobsmacked" by the news while New Zealand prime minister Chris Hipkins joked that Hansen would have to revoke his citizenship.\ufeff<\/p>\n

Foster's press conference after naming his team to play South Africa on Saturday (4.30am kickoff AEST, live on Stan Sport) was overshadowed by the Hansen story, which he described as \ufeff"outstanding."<\/p>\n

"He's agreed to give me three pages of notes about everything that's going on in their camp," Foster quipped in London.<\/p>\n

"I chuckle at the headlines. You guys (journalists) must be pretty excited by it, but he told me a month ago he was going in.<\/p>\n

"He's good mates with Eddie, but, mate, there's no lack of trust or from his commitment to us and to what we do and sharing stuff, so I've got no issues really.<\/p>\n

"In fact, we might bring him in for a couple of days."<\/p>\n

Hansen said his role with Australia was for "three or four" days and it was unpaid.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"Jeepers, surely we've got a better topic to talk on than Steve Hansen going to the Aussies for a couple of days with Eddie," Foster said as the questions kept coming.<\/p>\n

"I'm happy to keep talking about it, by the way, but I really don't think there's much in it."<\/p>\n

All Blacks coach Scott Barrett also weighed in on Hansen.<\/p>\n

"There must be something in it for him \u2013 or he lost a bet," Barrett said.<\/p>\n

Foster named a near full strength team to play the Springboks at Twickenham in their final warmup game before the World Cup.<\/p>\n

Injured forwards Brodie Retallick and Shannon Frizell are missing while Coles was handed a start ahead of Codie Taylor.<\/p>\n

"Clearly there are two or three players we're looking after from an injury perspective but it's a great Test match two weeks before a World Cup. The only way to go into this is full throttle."<\/p>\n
