S\ufefftate of Origin<\/a> coach Brad Fittler<\/a> has taken a thinly veiled swipe at South Sydney<\/a>'s boss as the fallout from a dramatic 48 hours at the NRL<\/a> club continues.<\/p>\n

The Rabbitohs imploded in the two days following a Sunday loss in Newcastle, after Sydney Morning Herald reports brought to life in-fighting and tension within the Maroubra-based organisation.<\/p>\n

The saga came to a head on Wednesday morning when 2014 premiership hero Sam Burgess was sensationally axed from his role as assistant coach<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Burgess was made the scapegoat for tensions arising from the apparent special treatment of superstar players Latrell Mitchell and Cody Walker by head coach Jason Demetriou, and possibly other senior members of the Rabbitohs.<\/p>\n

\ufeffHerald reporter Michael Chammas told Wide World of Sports' Freddy and the Eighth<\/em><\/a> of speculation that "people walk around on eggshells to make Latrell happy".<\/p>\n

Johns questioned if Burgess was the only person within the Bunnies prepared to pull the likes of Walker and Mitchell into line.<\/p>\n

"If the murmurs have been around for a while and everyone's heard them, how come it hasn't stopped?" Johns told Freddy and the Eighth<\/em>.<\/p>\n

"If it's a senior player, the CEO… he's always got plenty to say, why didn't he nip it in the bud?\ufeff"<\/p>\n

\"Sam<\/p>\n

Fittler took the opportunity to \ufeffcall out South Sydney chief Blake Solly.<\/p>\n

"\ufeffHe's got plenty to say about Origin. Does he need us to come down and help him out, Blake?" Fittler quipped.<\/p>\n

"He's got plenty of advice for everyone."<\/p>\n

A separate Herald report this week claimed Mitchell had recently been involved in a verbal stoush with Rabbitohs captain Cameron Murray during a team video session.<\/p>\n

Johns asked why no senior players had been putting teammates in their place in such circumstances.<\/p>\n

"The more worrying thing for me is how it's got to this point, and was it nipped in the bud four weeks ago, two months ago or whatever? You've got to ask who has the responsibility to do that?" Johns said.<\/p>\n

\"Latrell<\/p>\n

"If you had (Knights legend) Paul Harragon there it would have been sorted.<\/p>\n

"For me, it had to come from the senior players to nip it, or the coach, or would you go the CEO?\ufeff"<\/p>\n

While Fittler was critical of Solly, he \ufeffconceded it was the senior players who needed to step up.<\/p>\n

"The first port of call is always the players, because they are closest to it," Fittler said.<\/p>\n

"It's always good if you've got good senior players.\ufeff"<\/p>\n
