E\ufeffssendon great Matthew Lloyd<\/a> believes Melbourne<\/a> big man Brodie Grundy<\/a>'s days at the Demons are numbered, but it presents an "exciting" opportunity for the ruckman to find a new forever home.<\/p>\n

Grundy was controversially axed from the Demons' side before round 18, with the club eager to hone his craft as a forward in the VFL<\/a>.<\/p>\n

However, the ruckman has been unable to retain his spot in the senior side, with Lloyd now keen to see what he can offer another club in need of his services.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"How exciting though. It didn't work out for him, but Sydney Swans, Port Adelaide, if they're calling my manager, what an exciting time\ufeff to go to them and be the number one ruckman," Lloyd said on Nine's Footy Classified<\/em> on Monday night.<\/p>\n

Lloyd analysed \ufeffGrundy's inability to make an impact in his brief return to the side, when he was called up to face Carlton to replaced injured key forward Harrison Petty.<\/p>\n

"He only gets back in the (Melbourne) team if Max Gawn gets injured. That's his only way back now\ufeff," Lloyd said.<\/p>\n

"He came back for the Carlton game and they lost it when he was a forward. I'm not saying it was his fault, but they've gone to a more mobile forward line."<\/p>\n

Since Grundy – who was earning $900,000 a year at Collingwood – was axed again after the Demons' four point loss to Carlton, \ufeffMelbourne went on to defeat Hawthorn by 27 points and almost lock in their top four spot on Sunday, with a game to go before finals.<\/p>\n

Media personality Craig Hutchison was wary of Grundy's mistake in joining Melbourne, urging him to tread carefully when deciding where he lands next.<\/p>\n

"He can't choose the next club the wrong way\ufeff," Hutchison said on Monday night.<\/p>\n

"He and his team made \ufeffa very poor decision to go to Melbourne. They need to get the next move right. They've got options."<\/p>\n

Leading AFL journalist \ufeffCaroline Wilson agreed, throwing up Geelong in the mix alongside the Swans and Power as the right clubs to land the ruckman.<\/p>\n

"Port Adelaide and Sydney expect it will be a second round pick, but Melbourne might have to pay some of the money\ufeff," Wilson said on Monday.<\/p>\n

But Wilson reiterated that the big man has made it clear that he has "no intentions" of playing anywhere but the middle in 2024 and beyond.\ufeff<\/p>\n
