A\ufeffdelaide<\/a> champion and club football boss Mark Ricciuto has hit back at the AFL after the "inexcusable" goalpost drama that cost the Crows a finals berth<\/a> against Sydney<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The incident, which saw Crow Ben Keays' goal rendered a point, has angered Ricciuto, despite the league owning up to their mistake and standing down the umpire at the helm.<\/p>\n

"It didn't touch the post, it was a goal. For all that night and all yesterday and still now, it's probably as angry as I've ever been in terms of football," Ricciuto said on Triple M on Monday.<\/p>\n

"How the hell the umpire didn't call for a review is inexcusable. Yeah, he was in the right spot, but it's such an important moment in the game. If you have any doubt at all you call for a review.<\/p>\n

"He stuffed up \u2026 simply not reviewing it.<\/p>\n

"The four field umpires could have got involved. They had five seconds before the Swans brought the ball back in."<\/p>\n

Ricciuto was strong on the opinion that the league should update\ufeff the way that scores are reviewed when games come down to the wire.<\/p>\n

"Should the AFL go back and look at the rules, change it so umpires can review even if the ball's brought back in," Ricciuto said.<\/p>\n

"I think it should be an automatic review for close points."<\/p>\n

But radio show host on FiveAA, Stephen Rowe didn't hold back expressing his disgust at the mishandling of the crucial decision.<\/p>\n

"No! No! No! I'm not accepting that! Don't tell me to calm down in the studio!," Rowe said on Monday.<\/p>\n

"That's cheating! That is cheating! That is robbed and cheated, that is a clear goal, why did they not go upstairs?!"<\/p>\n

It comes after Crows' player Jordan Dawson fronted the media on Monday\ufeff, expressing his side's heartbreak, but urged people not to blame the umpire involved.<\/p>\n

"It's human error, don't take it out on the goal umpire, because at the end of the day we didn't play the footy we wanted to play and shouldn't leave it down to luck," Dawson said.<\/p>\n

Dawson did however call on the league to lean on the ARC goal review system\ufeff to help in heated scenarios.<\/p>\n

"That's what the technology has been brought in for, to use in scenarios like that where the umpire's not sure," Dawson said.<\/p>\n

"Anything to eliminate human error is going to be good for the game, but I'm not sure what that actually is."<\/p>\n

Crows CEO Tim Silvers also spoke on Sunday regarding the incident, ensuring the mistake Sydney<\/a> will act as fuel for the "devastated" but "resilient group" to find future success.<\/p>\n

"The footy Gods have not been smiling on us," he told the media on Sunday.<\/p>\n

"We've got a resilient group. I'm sure this is going to drive us for success in the future."<\/p>\n
