The Boomers<\/a> have\ufeff pulled off a stunning second-half comeback to defeat France 78-74 in an exhibition match in Tokyo.<\/p>\n

Australia weathered a first-term storm from France \ufeffbefore reeling in the deficit in a strong showing ahead of the FIBA Basketball World Cup<\/a>. \ufeff<\/p>\n

According to Australian basketball legend Andrew Gaze, the Boomers looked "in all sorts" after a fast start from France.<\/p>\n

The Australians trailed 27-19 at the first break with concerns the match would become a blowout with New York Knicks star Evan Fournier dominating the scoreboard early.<\/p>\n

With the odds already stacked against them, the team's World Cup hopes were dealt a blow when Dallas Mavericks guard Josh Green limped off the court after appearing to hyper-extend a knee while trying to regain his balance.<\/p>\n

Veteran \ufeffPatty Mills was once again troubled by wayward shooting, going 0-for-7 from deep after a more consistent showing in Australia's warm-up match against South Sudan<\/a>.<\/p>\n

As Australia turned over the ball in offence and Nick Kay and Xavier Cooks found themselves close to fouling out, the pair were subbed out and Duop Reath was injected back into the match.<\/p>\n

However, the Aussies \ufeffrallied in the second quarter to hold the same margin before a 47-point second half saw them leapfrog France in the match's final moments.<\/p>\n

\ufeffAustralia hit the lead with 1:32 remaining in the final term after Josh Giddy set up Kay, however it was short-lived as France quickly responded.<\/p>\n

The Boomers drew level in controversial scenes \ufeffas Rudy Gobert was penalised for unsportsmanlike conduct after bringing an elbow down heavily on Kay's head.<\/p>\n

Unable to take the free throws, \ufeffReath was brought on to convert the shots.<\/p>\n

The Boomers once again forged ahead through a lovely step-back shot from Mills before holding\ufeff their nerve until the final whistle.<\/p>\n

Josh and Kay led the Boomers on the scoreboard with 12 points, with Mills, Reath and Dante Exum also reaching double figures with 11 points each.<\/p>\n
