S\ufeffam Kerr<\/a> has revealed her injury struggles after she went down for a significant amount of time in the second half of the FIFA Women's World Cup<\/a> third-place playoff.<\/p>\n

The Matildas<\/a> skipper was involved in a heavy collision with Swedish defender Magdalena Eriksson and was in major discomfort as play continued on around her.<\/p>\n

Eventually, after booing from the crowd, the referee brought the game to a halt with Kerr helped off the field.<\/p>\n

While still limping, Kerr returned in the 77th minute to try and produce a miracle at 2-0 down. Unfortunately, she wasn't able to change her fortunes.<\/p>\n

Kerr missed the three opening games of the tournament due to a calf injury but the superstar revealed the knock came to her healthier one. \ufeff<\/p>\n

"My calves are struggling to be honest and I just copped a knee into the back of my right one which is my strong one. But that's irrelevant now," she said post-game on Optus Sports' coverage.<\/p>\n

After detailing her struggles, Kerr went on to reflect on an incredible tournament, describing it as the best period in her career. \ufeff<\/p>\n

"It's sad that it's come to \ufeffan end, this has been the best four weeks of our careers and it would've been nice to go out on a high but I think we have to reflect and think of how amazing this is," she said.<\/p>\n

"We've never come fourth before so although it's disappointing we'll look back in a couple of weeks and be proud of what we did."<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
