Australian centre Jock Landale<\/a> is unavailable for the Boomers<\/a> in their quest for FIBA World Cup<\/a> gold\ufeff, with the NBA gun ruled out of the team on Friday.<\/p>\n

The Houston Rockets signing, who\ufeff missed the opening two warm up games due to a right ankle injury, hobbled off the court in the third and final match of the series in Melbourne, with a left ankle problem.<\/p>\n

He returned to the team to give coach Brian Goorjian the option of running a bigger line up but those plans were buried after\ufeff Landale landed awkwardly trying to defend the rim just minutes into the game, and quickly limped into the locker room.<\/p>\n

Chris Goulding was also left out of Thursday night's side while Josh Green played in his first warm up clash.<\/p>\n

The Aussies got home against South Sudan but Landale's health was the major talking point and has major implications on the team.<\/p>\n

Without Landale, the Boomers will need to lean\ufeff on the likes Duop Reath, Nick Kay and Xavier Cooks to fill the void up front.<\/p>\n

The injury to Landale has gifted \ufeffJack White an opportunity to travel with the team, with White reportedly the player most likely to get cut if the centre was healthy.<\/p>\n

Goorjian confirmed they will not recruit a new player from outside the squad and is comfortable with having White in the team, with his side taking more of a small-ball approach.<\/p>\n

"Jack White has been right on the cusp of this thing and is huge for us," Goorjian said.<\/p>\n

"There is a quality piece there and I'm not comfortable with some of these guys that have not played at all. Thank goodness he is here, he's played in all of this and we went down the road that we went on as he is a very helpful piece.<\/p>\n

"He is multipurpose and if we are going to play that small ball and switch, he's another important piece."<\/p>\n

Landale will have tests on the injured ankle on Friday, but there's little doubt he'd be ready to play in eight days in the Boomers' opener against Finland.<\/p>\n

The Aussies have \ufefftwo warm-up games left, against France (Sunday) and Georgia (Tuesday) before they open their campaign on August 25.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
