Shane van Gisbergen's<\/a> long-awaited Supercars<\/a> exit has been finalised.<\/p>\n

Triple Eight Race Engineering has confirmed the three-time Supercars champion will part company at the end of 2023.<\/p>\n

The two-time Bathurst 1000<\/a> winner will be replaced by Erebus Motorsport incumbent Will Brown in 2024, joining Broc Feeney at the Banyo-based team.<\/p>\n

Last week, Erebus Motorsport announced Brown's impending departure, which all but confirmed his move to Triple Eight.<\/p>\n

The 25-year-old currently sits second in the Supercar drivers' championship behind current teammate Brodie Kostecki.<\/p>\n

Van Gisbergen's final event will be the Adelaide 500 on November 25-26 before he moves to the United States.<\/p>\n

As first revealed by Wide World of Sports, van Gisbergen began exploring opportunities in NASCAR midway through last year.<\/a><\/p>\n

That led to an opportunity with Trackhouse Racing to pilot a Chevrolet Camaro at the inaugural Chicago street race this year.<\/p>\n

He made his second NASCAR Cup Series start at Indianapolis Motor Speedway on Monday and only two days prior made his first competitive oval start in the NASCAR Truck Series.<\/p>\n

The Kiwi is expected to race part-time in the NASCAR Cup Series in 2024 alongside a program in either the third-tier Truck Series or second-tier Xfinity Series.<\/p>\n

Triple Eight team principal Jamie Whincup endorsed van Gisbergen's move state-side.<\/p>\n

"As we've made clear from the very start, Triple Eight wholeheartedly supports SVG's decision to showcase his world class talent abroad and we look forward to watching him continue to tear up the track like we witnessed in Chicago last month," said Whincup.<\/p>\n

"Will has been on our radar for many years since he was driving an ex-Triple Eight car in the Super2 championship. He is exciting to watch on track, very personable and most importantly, a really good fit to our Triple Eight culture.\u00a0<\/p>\n

"The fact Broc and him grew up racing together and are friends away from the circuit is a bonus. Of course, we still have a fight on our hands to win the drivers' and teams' championships this season, and that remains Triple Eight's immediate focus."<\/p>\n

It's expected van Gisbergen will return to NASCAR with Trackhouse Racing next year.<\/p>\n

Before that, he'll see out the Supercars season with Triple Eight. His program continues on August 19-20 at The Bend Motorsport Park.<\/p>\n

Van Gisbergen's exit and Brown's arrival is expected to set off a chain reaction of moves with potentially just a handful of teams going unchanged.<\/p>\n

Matt Stone Racing driver Jack Le Brocq is reportedly the firm favourite to replace Brown at Erebus Motorsport.<\/p>\n

That would leave a vacancy at Matt Stone Racing, though a top pick hasn't emerged for that seat yet.<\/p>\n

Grove Racing is set to lose David Reynolds, who is expected to replace Scott Pye at Team 18 alongside Mark Winterbottom.<\/p>\n

Walkinshaw Andretti United will likely let Nick Percat go and promote its Super2 Series front-runner Ryan Wood to the main team.\ufeff<\/p>\n

Tickford Racing is reportedly set to downscale from four cars to just two. Cameron Waters is firming to stay though the other seat has a question mark hanging over it.<\/p>\n

Thomas Randle, James Courtney, and Declan Fraser are among the team's current list of drivers. Randle is tipped to stay and Courtney has already been linked to other teams.<\/p>\n

The Blanchard Racing Team is eyeing an expansion to two cars. Todd Hazelwood currently drives for the team but his place beyond this year is unclear.\ufeff<\/p>\n
