Manly<\/a> officials are fuming with Wests Tigers<\/a>, believing the joint venture is running a clandestine campaign to de-rail the Sea Eagles' build-up for 2024.<\/p>\n

The two clubs have been doing plenty of business – Manly have signed Tigers duo Luke Brooks<\/a> and Tommy Talau while the highly-rated young Fainu brothers<\/a> have gone in the other direction.<\/p>\n

They have also swapped recruitment managers, with Scott Fulton moving to the Tigers and Manly poised to sign Warren McDonnell.<\/p>\n

But a rumour that hit the press last week \u2014 that the Sea Eagles are having salary cap problems after signing Brooks, Talau, and Roosters' winger Jaxson Paulo, as well as upgrading Josh Schuster<\/a>, Tolutau Koula, Taniela Paseka, Kaeo Weekes, and Christian Tuipulotu \u2014 has Manly seeing red.<\/p>\n

"We believe that the rumours started from the Tigers camp and they are just trying to cause trouble for us," a highly-placed Manly source told Wide World of Sports.<\/p>\n

"We were only recently given a clean bill of health by the NRL regarding our salary cap and they even found some money we hadn't used.<\/p>\n

"Yet this mystery story comes out that we have cap problems and it set off alarm bells with player managers we are dealing with.<\/p>\n

Raiders poach Knights youngster\ufeff<\/h2>\n

The Raiders have signed one of the most promising young forwards in bush footy in Cessnock Goannas front rower Caleb Garvie.<\/p>\n

The 18-year-old played in the Knights' SG Ball team this season before helping the Goannas into the finals of the Newcastle local league.<\/p>\n

His strong carries and big hitting caught the attention of several NRL teams, but the Raiders won the battle for his services with a three-year deal.<\/p>\n

The powerfully-built youngster will move to the national capital in October and is expected to start on a development contract before working his way into the Raiders' top 30.<\/p>\n

Former Manly favourite Jorge Taufua has been suspended for the rest of the regular season in England – for biting.<\/p>\n

The now Bradford Bulls winger was hit with a six game ban in the Betfred Championship but may play in the finals – if the team is still alive.<\/p>\n

Taufua, now 31, played 164 games for Manly over 11 seasons, bagging 88 tries, before moving to England last year.<\/p>\n

He fought the charge, claiming an opposition player put his arm in Taufua's mouth, leaving the winger helpless to do anything else but bite him.<\/p>\n

The charge was downgraded, but he copped a $740 (\u00a3375) fine as well as the six-game ban.<\/p>\n

Representative star out to 'disrupt the sector' \ufeff<\/h2>\n

Former Kangaroos prop David Shillington has entered the sometimes murky world of player management.<\/p>\n

"I've had one sign with the Bulldogs, one with the Raiders and one is in the Storm academy," he told Wide World of Sports.<\/p>\n

"I'm pretty keen for it to be more of that 'mentoring\/performance' relationship with the player rather than the traditional player manager relationship.<\/p>\n
