The NFL<\/a> world is mourning the death of former Baltimore and Seahawks running back Alex Collins, who has died at the age of 28.<\/p>\n

No cause of death was given for the fifth-round pick by the Seahawks in 2016, who left the Seahawks a year later to play for the Baltimore Ravens.<\/p>\n

Collins thrived in Baltimore, leading the team with 973 yards rushing and six touchdowns.<\/p>\n

The Ravens released him shortly after due to legal issues. He returned to Seattle in 2020 and 2021 and was a valuable member of the team, filling in admirably for Chris Carson.<\/p>\n

"With heavy hearts, we mourn the passing of Alex Collins," the Ravens said in a statement.<\/p>\n

"Always quick to greet everyone with a smile, he was a genuinely kind person who carried a special joy and passion wherever he went. May Alex always be remembered for the light and love he brought to so many people in his life."<\/p>\n

In a social media post, former Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson called Collins one of his favorite teammates.<\/p>\n

"Alex was a joy to be around and someone whose light shined brightly," Ravens coach John Harbaugh said in a statement.<\/p>\n

"I'll always remember him for being a great teammate who had an uplifting spirit that impacted everyone he encountered.<\/p>\n

"He was also a smart player who ran with unlimited determination, and he contributed to a lot of our success during his time in Baltimore."<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
