Canterbury Bulldogs<\/a> general manager Phil Gould<\/a> has admitted his role in rebuilding the club is a "difficult task" as they prepare to play their final three games of the season.<\/p>\n

The Bulldogs suffered another heavy defeat \ufeffon Sunday, going down 42-6 to the Knights<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Currently, they sit 15th on the ladder with seven wins to their name but have the worst points differential in the competition.<\/p>\n

After rebuilding Penrith into the powerhouse club they are now, Gould is tasked with a similar project at \ufeffBelmore.<\/p>\n

Asked on Nine's 100% Footy\ufeff<\/em> if it was a harder job than Penrith, Gould implied there are challenges.<\/p>\n

"I was \ufeffalways confident at Penrith, this one is, yeah I'd say it's probably the most difficult task I could imagine, right at the moment", he said.<\/p>\n

"But having said that, it's a great club, it's a big club, we know it well, there is a huge groundswell of support out there if we can get it right. And I know we will, in time.<\/p>\n

Earlier in the show, the Bulldogs supremo discussed how difficult the lack of quality players available to sign has made \ufefffor the club currently and in the future, claiming he's never seen the player market "as difficult as what it is at the moment".<\/p>\n

Gould put that down to a number of possible reasons including COVID hampering junior development football\ufeff, previous plans at the Bulldogs and the inclusion of the Dolphins as well as a possible 18th side.<\/p>\n

With that considered, he stated how there's an inability to give fans an exact timeline of when success will occur. \ufeff<\/p>\n

"Putting a timeframe on that is impossible at the moment and as I say, I've never seen the player market the way it is at the moment and you look at the lopsided nature of our competition at the moment, we had eight games on the weekend where the favourites all won and that had some big scorelines in it," he said.<\/p>\n

"The bottom teams are really struggling and for team's in our position, it's hard to get out of the cellar, let alone be competitive with those top sides the way they're going at the moment. We're a long way off the pace."<\/p>\n

With a new coach in Cameron Ciraldo joining the club at the start of pre-season, Gould admitted there's been a mixed response in the playing group to the new training system.<\/p>\n
