Essendon champion Matthew Lloyd<\/a> has raised concerns over the AFL's goal line technology, after Carlton<\/a>'s Caleb Marchbank claimed he touched the ball on the line with a second remaining against Melbourne<\/a> on Saturday night.<\/p>\n

Demon Christian Petracca's<\/a> snap on goal with less than a minute left in his side's eventual four point loss to the Blues was sent to score review, with the outcome inconclusive.<\/p>\n

The soft call was touched, but \ufeffLloyd says the technology is no where near the standard it should be heading into finals.<\/p>\n

"If this was a final or a grand final, this goal line technology is the best that we've got?" Lloyd said on Nine's Sunday Footy Show<\/em>.<\/p>\n

"The technology isn't good enough. This may well cost Melbourne a home final."<\/p>\n

Media personality Tony Jones also backed Lloyd's call to eliminate the technology\ufeff.<\/p>\n

"I think you've hit the nail on the head there, if that is the best we've got with technology then just get rid of it and go back to umpire's call," he said. <\/p>\n

Lloyd also weighed in on the controversy which took social media by storm on Saturday night.<\/p>\n

"My gut feel is it was a goal," Lloyd said.<\/p>\n

Despite his assurance, Marchbank was confident on ABC Radio post game that he touched the ball "on the fingertips".<\/p>\n

"I was just hoping for anywhere … I was just hoping enough it would go towards my favour," Marchbank said.\ufeff<\/p>\n

Nathan Brown also threw his support behind the Blues defender, adamant that the blame should fall onto the AFL instead.<\/p>\n

"Caleb Marchbank says he touched it\ufeff, then I believe him. I don't think he's going to go on radio and lie about it," Brown said on Nine's Sunday Footy Show.<\/em><\/p>\n

Carlton now travel to face the 15th-placed Suns next Saturday.<\/p>\n
