Ben Grice couldn't hide his frustration after a chaotic first lap ended with the National Trans Am Series<\/a> opener at Queensland Raceway being cancelled.<\/p>\n

No points were awarded after a pile-up at turn four took a handful of cars out of contention.<\/p>\n

Among those was series front-runner Ben Grice, who only built his Ford Mustang a few months prior after an enormous crash at Symmons Plains.<\/p>\n

Just moments later, James Moffat got loose out of turn five and suffered a tank slapper on corner exit.\u00a0<\/p>\n

His Garry Rogers Motorsport teammate Lochie Dalton had nowhere to go and copped a whack in his side, sending him off the road.<\/p>\n

Dalton went through the grass at high speed, launching into the air as he struck a kerb halfway up the straight.<\/p>\n

The chaos continued as the safety car was called for the stricken cars of Grice and John Hollinger.<\/p>\n

The safety car was deployed into the middle of the pack and Mark Crutcher was forced to take evasive action and spun into turn one, capping off a chaotic couple of minutes.<\/p>\n

The red flag was drawn shortly thereafter and the cars returned to the pit lane before the race was declared a non-event.<\/p>\n

"Pretty pissed off," said Grice after the crash.<\/p>\n

"We've got 80 laps of racing to go here and we get wrecked in corner four.\u00a0<\/p>\n

"It's hard to know what happened. I mirror-checked and looked in the left and saw the yellow car coming pretty quick and tried to give him a little bit of room and everyone checked up and I got run over.\u00a0<\/p>\n

"Just a real tough deal for my All American Driveline team. It's their local round and that's certainly not what we wanted to show.\u00a0<\/p>\n

"It copped a bit of a hit on the left side in the feet there. So I think I'll be alright but hopefully we can fix it and have something to show for it tomorrow.\u00a0<\/p>\n

"Sorry for all my guys for giving them all that work. I've got the best team in the category, so if anyone can do it they can do it."<\/p>\n

Three races remain in the National Trans Am Series at Queensland Raceway with race two at 2:15pm on Saturday followed by a double-header on Sunday at 12pm and 3:30pm respectively.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
