Australian racing stalwart Jason Bargwanna has revealed he considered returning to the sport to compete alongside his son Ben.<\/p>\n

However, the Bathurst 1000<\/a> winner has revealed to Wide World of Sports he'll give a young up-and-comer a chance to make their mark on the TCR Australia Series.<\/a><\/p>\n

Bargwanna is finalising plans for Garry Rogers Motorsport to field a fifth Peugeot 308 with an as-yet-to-be-confirmed driver.<\/p>\n

Stan Sport is the only place to watch the 2023 SpeedSeries.<\/strong><\/em> All the action streaming ad-free, live and on demand<\/strong><\/em><\/a><\/p>\n

In any case, the seven-time Supercars race winner has promised a young gun will get the nod for the Sandown Raceway event in Victoria on September 8-10.<\/p>\n

It's expected another driver will take over for the New South Wales double-header at Sydney Motorsport Park (November 3-4) and Mount Panorama for the Bathurst International (November 10-12).<\/p>\n

"There is a bit of a plan and certainly when all this came about, the thought of me pulling on the helmet and having another go \u2013 I got very excited about that idea," Bargwanna told Wide World of Sports.\u00a0<\/p>\n

"We're just finalising that at the moment in terms of getting some opportunity for a young driver and I think that's the way we're gonna go.\u00a0<\/p>\n

"I reckon it's pretty exciting. and we will announce that in the next couple of weeks in terms of what our plan is also."<\/p>\n

The addition of another Peugeot brings the fleet to five, all of which are campaigned by Garry Rogers Motorsport.<\/p>\n

The hatchback is particularly strong at the circuits to come. Bargwanna's son won took victory at Sandown and the car was especially strong at Bathurst<\/p>\n

"I think there are circuits that suit the Peugeot," Bargwanna explained.<\/p>\n

"Obviously like all these TCR cars, you have your circuits that you like and circuits that cars don't like so much and I'm really looking forward to that back end of the year.<\/p>\n

"Certainly Sydney, Bathurst and we obviously saw Sandown with Ben having a win there last year. The Peugeots will be competitive."<\/p>\n

The team's immediate focus is on the Queensland Raceway round of SpeedSeries where Bargwanna will look to score his first win of the season and rise from sixth in the standings.<\/p>\n

"This weekend we've hopefully fixed a few of the issues we had last year with brakes and so forth \u2013 we'll see how we go for this weekend," said Bargwanna.<\/p>\n

"It's an exciting time, another car on the grid which is always good to see. A new sponsor of the sport, which is exciting. Then there are a few other elements to that which we'll divulge soon."<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
