Brisbane Lions CEO Greg Swann has shrugged off suggestions that head of football Danny Daly is headed to the Gold Coast Suns<\/a> to be looming coach Damien Hardwick<\/a>'s right hand man.<\/p>\n

Daly worked with Hardwick back in 2010\ufeff at Richmond, before moving to the Lions as an assistant coach, then becoming footy boss.<\/p>\n

It comes after leading AFL journalist Damien Barrett reported on Nine's Footy Classified<\/em> that Hardwick had shown interest in having Daly alongside him in the Suns coaching box.<\/a><\/p>\n

"That is a person in Damien Hardwick's thoughts strongly," Barrett said on Nine's Footy Classified<\/em> on Wednesday night.<\/p>\n

\ufeff"He's got a track record that people trust him, he worked with Dani Laidley prior to going to Brisbane."<\/p>\n

Swann said Daly was firmly committed to the Lions, but it "wouldn't surprise" him if his name had already come up in Gold Coast discussions.<\/p>\n

"He's the best in the business so it's not a surprise," Swann said SEN on Friday.<\/p>\n

"It wouldn't surprise me because he's been an absolute key component of what we've been doing in the last few years.<\/p>\n

Swann did however confirm he had a conversation with Daly, which reaffirmed his commitment to the Lions.<\/p>\n

"I did have a little chat to him yesterday, but he's all-in with us," Swann said.<\/p>\n

"He's a fantastic operator. It wouldn't be the first time that someone has given him a call to see what he's up to.<\/p>\n

"He's with us and hopefully we can march through the finals and get to where we need to get to."<\/p>\n

Eddie McGuire<\/a> also told Footy Classified that he would be keen to see Daly a part of Hardwick's team.<\/p>\n

"He's had a long pedigree, and well regarded within the football industry," McGuire said on Wednesday night.<\/p>\n

The news comes after McGuire said he was confident that the Suns would sign Hardwick as their next coach in a matter of time, after being linked to the role since the sacking of Stuart Dew.<\/p>\n
