M\ufeffelbourne has recalled ruckman Brodie Grundy<\/a> for its top-eight clash with the high-flying Blues, after axing him to try his craft as a forward in the VFL.<\/a><\/p>\n

Grundy, who was dropped in round 18 to "improve" in front of goal according to Demons footy boss Alan Richardson, will come into the side to replace injured tall forward Harrison Petty.<\/p>\n

It comes as the Demons\ufeff also welcome back star midfielder Clayton Oliver after an 11-week stint on the sideline with a complicated hamstring injury<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Grundy's addition to the side comes earlier than Melbourne was expecting, after the club was "transparent" with his dropping, throwing its support behind premiership-winning ruckman Max Gawn<\/a> to take on the job alone.<\/p>\n

Richardson's statement\ufeff, which was released by the Demons in mid-July, explained the plan the club had for Grundy, amid hysteria surrounding his shock axing.<\/p>\n

"We have been transparent that we are continuing to look for ways to be more effective in front of the ball," Richardson said.<\/p>\n

"We really like the impact Brodie is having in the ruck, but think he would benefit from more time forward."\ufeff<\/p>\n

Oliver's inclusion also comes after the club was under scrutiny over the management of his hamstring troubles.\ufeff<\/p>\n

Essendon champion Matthew Lloyd raised concerns about Oliver's return on Nine's Footy Classified<\/em> on Wednesday night<\/a>, calling for better handling of the mysterious injury.<\/p>\n

The first 10 rounds of the season saw Oliver attend 83 per cent of all centre bounces, with the club able to fill the void successfully with Jack Viney and Angus Brayshaw.<\/p>\n
