The dispute that's rumbled between the NRL<\/a> and the Rugby League Players Association<\/a> for 21 months has finally reached a solution, meaning the players' boycott of game-day media<\/a> is over.<\/p>\n

The NRL confirmed on Thursday night that the two parties had arrived at an "in-principle agreement".<\/p>\n

"\ufeffThe in-principle agreement will be presented to the Australian Rugby League Commission and Rugby League Players Association for ratification in the coming days," the NRL said in a statement.<\/p>\n

The players' boycott of match-day media had lasted since its announcement on July 5, meaning State of Origin III and the past five rounds of the NRL season were impacted, as well as the first three rounds of the NRLW campaign.<\/p>\n

The RLPA also went to the extreme length of having the NRL logo on players' jerseys covered up.\ufeff<\/p>\n

The stoush won't result in a Dally M Medal boycott nor a player strike, which had been threatened.<\/p>\n

"Apparently the talks went really well and it's about to be sorted," Wests Tigers assistant coach Benji Marshall told SEN radio in New Zealand on Thursday.<\/p>\n

"I'm on both sides of the coin; I've been a player and I understand as a player you have to get everything right.<\/p>\n

"To be honest with you, the players association acts in the players' best interests, long term, what is best for them.<\/p>\n

"Financially and whatever (the issue) is, collectively, I'm glad the players are sticking together, that they are standing up for themselves.<\/p>\n

"The point it's gotten to, though, I think it's probably gone too far. I thought they could have probably been in the room a bit sooner and not had to black out the (NRL) logo and all of that sort of stuff.<\/p>\n

"At the same time, it's a bit of a soap opera, our game, it creates a lot of drama. I thought it could have been done in a better way and done behind closed doors."<\/p>\n

The previous CBA\ufeff expired on October 31, 2022, but was rolled over for one year to accommodate the extended negotiations.<\/p>\n
