Australian<\/a> batter Travis Head<\/a> \ufeffhas revealed the Aussies got "fed up" after being made to wait around at The Oval to have a beer with England<\/a>.<\/p>\n

It was the ugly post-script to an instantly iconic Ashes<\/a> series that ended 2-2\ufeff when the hosts won a thriller on day five of the fifth Test in London.<\/p>\n

Aussie journalists later revealed the players and coaches knocked on England's dressing room door a number of times and waited to be invited for a drink to celebrate the series, but the invite never came.<\/p>\n

Australia eventually left The Oval, before England claim they left the rooms to mingle with the opposition, who had already gone.<\/p>\n

England skipper Ben Stokes later clarified a number of players caught up with the Aussies in a nightclub\ufeff and they shared a drink.<\/p>\n

\"Australia's<\/p>\n

"It's been played up a little bit," Head told the Willow Talk<\/em> podcast this week.<\/p>\n

"Post-match, I think we hung around for a little bit. (England) had a couple of retirements, and, I think, a few staff that (were) going.<\/p>\n

"We sort of knocked a couple of times and got told two minutes, which turned into an hour, and the boys got a bit fed up.<\/p>\n

"But yeah, a few of the boys met up with them afterwards, and I've been in contact with a couple of the guys that I was close with about the differences in the timings. A bit disappointing, but I don't think it was by design."<\/p>\n

Head was one of several Australian players who coincidentally ended up at the same nightclub that England later visited.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"We didn't go there together… It's just by design again that both teams found themselves at the same place," Head said.<\/p>\n

"I think it was a Monday night, but there are not many places to go on a Monday night in London, so we found ourselves at the same place… shared one or two vodka Red Bulls together and then off to the flight."<\/p>\n

Head admitted there was some friendly banter exchanged between the parties.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"There was a few boys that I know – Ben Duckett was sort of chirping me a little bit about us dogging them and I chirped in a little bit about them dogging us, so all in good spirits," he laughed.<\/p>\n

"Like I said, I think it was all a bit laughed off from us, and then the media played it up a little bit. It wasn't meant to be, but those things happen."<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
