Karachi:\u00a0Newly-appointed Chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC), Greg Barclay has stated that the cricket’s governing body doesn’t have the mandate to influence bilateral ties between India and Pakistan.<\/strong><\/p>\n

He thinks that some things are beyond cricket but is confident to do his best to get arch-rivals on the same page with regards to cricketing matters.<\/p>\n

“I would love nothing more than to see India and Pakistan continuing with their cricket relations like previously. I am also enough of a realist to understand that there are geopolitical issues at play here,” Barclay told to ANI.<\/p>\n

He further added that all cricket boards at ICC aim to continue helping that would allow both boards to come to a position where they can play regular cricket.<\/p>\n

“Beyond that, I do not think I have a mandate or ability to influence the outcomes more than that. That is really done at a level way beyond where we could be operating,” he added.<\/p>\n

“From the cricket point of view, we would love to get those countries back together again on a regular basis. The ICC will do whatever it can to help facilitate and support an outcome that might see that happen,” he maintained.<\/p>\n

It must be noted that Pakistan and India have not played a bilateral series since 2012.\u00a0Both teams have only faced in main ICC events or the Asia Cup since then.<\/p>\n
