St Kilda<\/a> coach Ross Lyon<\/a> has opened up after his side was "obliterated" by Carlton on Sunday, admitting his Saints "didn't exactly see" the 19-point loss to Carlton coming.<\/p>\n

The Saints, who booted only one goal in the second half,\ufeff have now lost three of their last five outings, dropping to seventh on the ladder, with Carlton racking up its seventh win on the trot.<\/p>\n

"We all just feel a little bit low at the minute," Lyon said.<\/p>\n

"After half-time they obliterated us, which is really disappointing because nothing really changed."\ufeff<\/p>\n

Lyon admitted Carlton's midfield \ufeffwas too strong and that after half-time St Kilda had no answers.<\/p>\n

Carlton won the inside 50 count 56-44, \ufeffwhich came from its midfield domination, winning clearances 46 to 22.<\/p>\n

"We rolled them all through to be honest, we put (Jack) Sinclair through, (Jade) Gresham, got (Mitch) Owens out, put (Marcus) Windhager through. We were just trying to get traction, but then you've got to win the ball," Lyon said.<\/p>\n

The Saints were held goalless \ufeffin the final term, while the Blues piled on four unanswered majors, jumping into fifth on the ladder.<\/p>\n

\ufeff"We had one entry from around the ground clearance in the second half," Lyon said.<\/p>\n

With the Saints still sitting in inside the top eight with just three rounds until finals, Lyon is eager to get his side's winning mentality back.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"Our guys feel down, but it was impossible," Lyon said.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"It's a conundrum, isn't it? It's a juxtaposition.\ufeff Half-time, we couldn't be happier … We had the method. If anything, they simplified their game.<\/p>\n

"\ufeffSometimes you just get beaten. But it's hard to swallow because we didn't see it exactly coming."<\/p>\n

The Saints will face Richmond, Geelong and Brisbane on the run home, with all three sides fighting for finals contention, yet Lyon remains adamant that he'll be satisfied no matter his side's outcome.<\/p>\n

"It's not always about the ladder, it's just about improving your footy and feeling good about yourselves," he said.<\/p>\n

St Kilda will \ufeffhost Richmond at Marvel Stadium on Sunday, with both sides fighting to keep their finals chances alive.<\/p>\n
