It wasn't all that long ago Shane van Gisbergen<\/a> and Scott McLaughlin<\/a> were sparring Down Under in Supercars<\/a>. Now the pair are united over one common thread.<\/p>\n

McLaughlin now races in the United States in the IndyCar Series<\/a> while NASCAR<\/a>-bound van Gisbergen is almost assured to make the move across the Pacific in 2024.<\/p>\n

The two-time Bathurst 1000 winner is likely to compete in the NASCAR Cup Series next year, potentially part-time alongside a campaign in the second-tier Xfinity Series or third-tier Truck Series.<\/p>\n

Stan Sport is the only place to watch the 2023 IndyCar Series, featuring Will Power, Scott McLaughlin and Scott Dixon.<\/strong> All the action streaming ad free, live and on demand<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

It has all come off the back of a brilliant NASCAR debut, winning on the streets of Chicago.<\/p>\n

Ahead of his expected move to the United States, van Gisbergen has been leaning on McLaughlin for advice.<\/p>\n

The 2019 Bathurst 1000 winner has been living State-side since he went full-time in the IndyCar Series in 2021.<\/p>\n

"He's been talking to me a little bit about what it's like to live here, stuff like that," said McLaughlin.<\/p>\n

"I don't know if it's official yet. I think his intention is that, if it all happens.<\/p>\n

"It's awesome. I think I've said a number of times what I think he did at Chicago was awesome, awesome for New Zealand motorsport.\u00a0<\/p>\n

"For him to be here, I'm very excited for him. Four years ago, we were banging doors in Supercars.\u00a0<\/p>\n

"It's crazy. Now we've both had a win in America, which is awesome."<\/p>\n

In a week, McLaughlin and van Gisbergen will race on the same weekend for the first time since the 2020 Bathurst 1000, which doubled as the season-finale that year.<\/p>\n

McLaughlin will race for Team Penske in IndyCar while van Gisbergen will pilot the Project91 entry out of the Trackhouse Racing camp in the Cup Series.<\/p>\n

Van Gisbergen won't be the only Supercars star racing, with Brodie Kostecki also set to make his Cup Series debut for Richard Childress Racing.<\/p>\n

"It's going to be cool to race on the same weekend," said McLaughlin.<\/p>\n

\"Scott<\/p>\n

"Brodie Kostecki from Australia is here as well. Going to be cool. Looking forward to it.<\/p>\n

"I'm going to go home and watch it from my couch on Sunday."<\/p>\n

McLaughlin is also planning on attending van Gisbergen's competitive oval debut in the Truck Series at Indianapolis Raceway Park on August 12 (AEST).<\/p>\n

McLaughlin's IndyCar Series season continues on the streets of Nashville with the Music City Grand Prix on Monday at 2am.<\/p>\n
