C\ufeffollingwood<\/a>'s season has been dealt a major blow with young gun Nick Daicos<\/a> to miss at least the next six weeks with a hairline fracture in his knee.<\/p>\n

Daicos sustained the injury in the Magpies' shock \ufeff32-point loss to Hawthorn<\/a> at the MCG on Saturday afternoon.<\/p>\n

Collingwood confirmed the injury to Daicos in a statement on Sunday afternoon while also confirming defender Nathan Murphy would miss up to three weeks after hurting the syndesmosis joint in his right ankle.<\/p>\n

\ufeff"We are disappointed for both Nathan and Nick who will unfortunately miss games through injury for an extended period," Collingwood football boss Graham Wright said in the statement.<\/p>\n

"Both players underwent scans after our game last night which confirmed Nathan suffered a low-grade syndesmosis injury in his right ankle and is expected to miss the next two to three weeks, while Nick has a hairline fracture in the lateral tibial plateau of the right knee joint.<\/p>\n

"Nick has been seen by a specialist knee surgeon this morning and, while fortunately this does not require an operation, it will need time to heal before he returns to football. At this stage, the expected timeframe for Nick is six weeks.<\/p>\n

"Both Nathan and Nick have played important roles this season, they are consummate professionals and will do all they can to progress through their rehab to make themselves available and we will support them through that recovery."<\/p>\n

Daicos is currently the joint second favourite to take out the Brownlow Medal, and has\ufeff 31.2 disposals per game in 20 appearances so far this season.<\/p>\n
